ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

PAVE Schools, Inc. (PAVE) prepares Kindergarten to 8th grade students to thrive in competitive high schools and four-year colleges. PAVE provides its students with a rigorous academic program and a community built on the organization’s core values of Perseverance, Achievement, Vibrance, and Excellent character. PAVE supports the establishment and operation of:

 

  • PAVE Red Hook, a Kindergarten – 8th grade public charter school in Red Hook, Brooklyn. In 2018 – 2019, PAVE Red Hook will educate 490 Kindergarten – 8th grade scholars.
  • PAVE Southeast, a Kindergarten – 8th grade public charter school in Raleigh, NC.  In 2018-2019 PAVE Southeast will educate 400 Kindergarten – 4th grade scholars.
  • Future schools founded on the core values of Perseverance, Achievement, Vibrance, and Excellent character.

OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY

PAVE Southeast Raleigh seeks a Teacher Aide to provide behavioral and academic support for students with disabilities and/or behavioral needs. The Teacher Aide will work under the guidance of a certified teacher and/or social worker to assist in the social emotional and academic development of individual and small groups of scholars. The Teacher Aide will provide behavioral supports for students with special needs and/or behavioral needs in order to help ensure their access and success within the inclusion setting, during transitions, and during school specials. The Teacher Aide will also assist in the implementation of school-wide positive behaviors and assist in student success across all settings.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

Under the direct supervision and guidance of a certified teacher and/or social worker:

  • Work one on one and in small groups with scholars within the classroom setting
  • Assist in the educational and social emotional development of scholars
  • Provide behavioral support for individual scholars during classroom activities, specials, and transitions.
  • Assist in the implementation of behavior plans for individual scholars
  • Provide scholars with additional opportunities to practice social emotional and academic skills previously instructed
  • Review academic content previously instructed to small groups of scholars
  • Assist in the implementation of accommodations for students with specialized services
  • Assist classroom teachers in preparation of materials
  • Assist classroom teachers in documentation of student data
  • Assist in monitoring of scholars during recess, lunch, arrival, and dismissal as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TEAM

  • A strong commitment to PAVE’s mission and vision
  • An uncompromising belief that all students can learn and be successful
  • Ability to work well with a team of educators and take direction from others
  • At least 2 years experience working with students with disabilities
  • Previous experience working with students with Autism preferred
  • A positive outlook and approach to working with scholars
  • Detailed oriented and strong commitment to following student behavior and individual education plans.
  • Experience teaching in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred
  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree related to the field of Special Education preferred
