    Job Location

    PAVE Schools, Inc. (PAVE) prepares Kindergarten to 8th grade students to thrive in competitive high schools and four-year colleges. PAVE provides its students with a rigorous academic program and a community built on the organization’s core values of Perseverance, Achievement, Vibrance, and Excellent character. PAVE supports the establishment and operation of:


    • PAVE Red Hook, a Kindergarten – 8th grade public charter school in Red Hook, Brooklyn. In 2018 – 2019, PAVE Red Hook will educate 490 Kindergarten – 8th grade scholars.
    • PAVE Southeast, a Kindergarten – 8th grade public charter school in Raleigh, NC.  In 2018-2019 PAVE Southeast will educate 400 Kindergarten – 4th grade scholars.


    PAVE Schools seeks an Elementary Math Curriculum Specialist to work with the Curriculum Directors and other Curriculum Specialists to support in the development and implementation of PAVE’s curriculum as well as the training of leaders and teachers to ensure successful execution. The individual selected for this role will have a passion for the content area, an unyielding commitment to PAVE’s mission and vision, and an exceptional work ethic.

    Staff Development

    • Design and implement professional development sessions for both teachers and leaders
    • Design and facilitate content-meetings, including unit previews, student work analysis, and data meetings, for both teachers and leaders
    • Build investment in our academic approach and curriculum amongst leaders and teachers
    • Support leaders through content-specific co-observations and the modeling of real-time coaching of teachers


    Curriculum Development

    • With the Curriculum Directors, support school leaders in ensuring the curriculum is being implemented successfully
    • Research, help design, and/or supplement the curriculum to ensure the highest quality materials are presented to students
    • Create various levels of curriculum, including year-long trajectories, unit plans, lesson plans, and assessments in key subjects based on schools’ needs.
    • Responsive to school-based feedback


    Assessment and Data

    • With the Curriculum Directors, create or revise assessments as needed to align with the Common Core Standards, state standards, and state assessments
    • Bring content-specific expertise to data analysis and focus leaders on teachers on the most important action steps that arise from data cycles
    • Identify patterns and trends in data to inform programmatic enhancements
    • Oversee ongoing studnet data and provide high level analysis



    • Embody, advocate for, and operationalize the mission, vision, and strategic direction of PAVE
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Curriculum Directors.

    • Experience with Cognitively Guided Instruction and constructivist math
    • The ability to work independently for extended periods of time and balance time between several projects at once
    • Strong collaboration skills
    • A willingness to be held accountable and a desire for feedback
    • Outstanding communication and writing skills
    • Experience leading professional development sessions and facilitating meetings, especially with school leaders
    • Willingness to travel between New York and North Carolina schools
    • Proven results on standardized assessments, like state tests
    • At least four years of experience teaching or leading in the math content area
    • Experience working in urban charter schools preferred
    • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in the content area preferred
