    PAVE Schools, Inc. (PAVE) prepares Kindergarten to 8th grade students to thrive in competitive high schools and four-year colleges. PAVE provides its students with a rigorous academic program and a community built on the organization’s core values of Perseverance, Achievement, Vibrance, and Excellent character. PAVE supports the establishment and operation of:

     

    • PAVE Red Hook, a Kindergarten – 8th grade public charter school in Red Hook, Brooklyn. In 2018 – 2019, PAVE Red Hook will educate 490 Kindergarten – 8th grade scholars.
    • PAVE Southeast, a Kindergarten – 8th grade public charter school in Raleigh, NC.  In 2018-2019 PAVE Southeast will educate 400 Kindergarten – 4th grade scholars.

    OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY

    PAVE Southeast Raleigh seeks a School Cafeteria Worker who is ServSafe certified to work in our school cafeteria serving breakfast, lunch, and snack to elementary students, as well as other food service duties. The School Cafeteria Worker will work on a full-time schedule, from 6:00AM to 2:00PM Monday through Friday when school is in session. Hours may vary based on needs. The School Cafeteria Worker will report directly to the Cafeteria Manager.

    HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

    Food Service Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Typical tasks: maintain adequate supplies of servingware and napkins on the serving line
    • Set up and refill condiments, dispensers, and food pans
    • Portion food items for trays according to required serving sizes
    • Set-up and break-down of serving line
    • Alert supervisors of items that are low on stock
    • Put away/throw out food and food service supplies
    • Check supplies or food products delivered by supplier to be sure they meet the type, quantity, and quality
    • Ensure that special catered menu are ready for distribution at prearranged times
    • Prepare sack lunches, snacks, and other special requests as needed
    • Clean sinks, counters, and serving area
    • Sweep and mop floors; wipe spills; collect and removes trash; replace trash can liners;
    • Wash pans for return to caterer
    • Participate in HACCP required trainings
    • Adhere to all food handling procedures according to local health department and all other regulatory standards as required
    • May also perform other duties as assigned

    WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TEAM

    • ServSafe certification required
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
    • At least one year experience serving in a school cafeteria or in food service preferred
    • Customer service experience preferred
    • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation methods used in a food service environment
    • Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying
    • Special Physical Requirements:
      • Ability to safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds
      • Ability to stand and walk on concrete and tile floors for long periods of time
      • Ability to withstand a wide range of temperatures
      • Ability to work in refrigerated areas
