    PAVE Schools, Inc. (PAVE) prepares Kindergarten to 8th grade students to thrive in competitive high schools and four-year colleges. PAVE provides its students with a rigorous academic program and a community built on the organization’s core values of Perseverance, Achievement, Vibrance, and Excellent character. PAVE supports the establishment and operation of:


    • PAVE Red Hook, a Kindergarten – 8th grade public charter school in Red Hook, Brooklyn. In 2018 – 2019, PAVE Red Hook will educate 490 Kindergarten – 8th grade scholars.
    • PAVE Southeast, a Kindergarten – 8th grade public charter school in Raleigh, NC.  In 2018-2019 PAVE Southeast will educate 400 Kindergarten – 4th grade scholars.


    PAVE Red Hook seeks an Elementary Music Teacher for immediate mid-year hire. This teacher will be responsible for teaching a minimum of four blocks of general music per day across Kindergarten through 4th grades. If they have previous experience, the Music Teacher may also lead small academic groups working with students who will benefit from a pull-out or push-in model. The Music Teacher will also lead a small after-school group of music students several days per week, and as such, will work on an adjusted schedule to accommodate the after-school responsibilities. The Music teacher will report directly to the Principal.

    • Create and sustain a positive and highly structured school culture of high academic and behavioral expectations
    • Implement a research-based curriculum to meet or exceed academic standards, with the flexibility to adjust the current curriculum or develop a new curriculum where you see fit
    • Plan and execute lessons aligned to the common core standards
    • Assume responsibility for the academic progress of students with a high sense of urgency and ownership towards quantifiable results
    • Use assessments and data to inform instructional practices
    • Utilize IEPs to adapt instruction to reach the needs of students with disabilities in an inclusionsetting
    • Maintain strong, professional relationships with colleagues in an environment where listening, critical thought, respectful debate, and compromise is welcomed and essential
    • Commit to continued professional growth and active participation in PAVE Academy professional development
    • Ensure all students engage their voice and posture well when speaking and presenting
    • Work with staff to codify and disseminate cheers, songs, and other culture building exercises
    • Complete all lesson plans, progress reports, report cards, and administrative functions with care and timeliness
    • Plan and execute joyful concerts that showcase music learning to staff and families
    • Perform duties as deemed necessary by the Administrative Team

    • At least two years of experience with a proven track-record of high achievement
    • Previous experience as a music instructor preferred
    • Bachelor’s Degrees (required), Master’s Degree (preferred)
    • Experience teaching in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred
    • New York State Teaching Certificate or Equivalent
